Within 1 mile of our place there are two parks with forests. This is Gabriel Park, 90 acres, and just to our west. Huge park with all the ball fields, tennis courts, community center, dog park, community garden, and a fantastic forest with creeks and 200 ft tall trees and hiking trails. OMG - just down the road.
To our east is another forest park George Himes Park The park is 32 acres of woods. Nice!
And within a short drive some of the most beautiful rivers and waterfalls one could imagine.
Rose and I are enjoying this so much.
Two Thumbs up for moving to the North West!

Norwegian Walking (Ski) Sticks
I was born with flat feet and bad knees. Due to a lack of common sense, an over active life style, and the ability to fall off of roofs and communication towers - well they are even worse today. Walking long distances has been a problem...
I have broken my left foot three times - I'll bet you didn't know that...
I'll bet you didn't know my left leg is much shorter than my right causing me to walk like Jon Wayne. It has come to my attention that women really love my swagger, so I ain't complaining about that...LOL.
And apparently, I am Norwegian - OK I know you didn't know that!
So enter the Norwegian Ski Sticks. Ya, I took to them like, ah.. a Norwegian.
These little sticks are really great, and cheep too, like $80 on Amazon. They are actually made in Lillehammer, Norway. They advertise that you get a 40% better workout, and use 90% of your mussels. Wow!
Seriously, I am doubling my walking distance and feel much more confident on trails and sidewalks.
We really don't use the car here much. Hillsdale and Multnomad Village are a mile or less away, so we just walk.
Portland has so many great places to walk. There are two forests within a mile of our place. And a thousand places to drink beer.
